How to apply

We welcome children of all nationalities, races and creeds at The English International School Prague. Please get in touch – we’ll be only too glad to meet you.

We’ve put together a break-down of the admissions process below to make life easier for you

Step 1: Contact us

When you begin your school search, we will be very happy to offer information over the phone or via email so please get in touch to the contacts listed below. We accept admissions throughout the year so it is not necessary to wait until September to start school. We are also open all year around Monday to Friday from 0800 until 1630 including the school holidays except Czech public holidays:

t: +420 272 181 911 ( weekdays)

m: +420 602 506 584 ( after 1630)

Step 2: Set up an appointment

At EISP, we like to meet all prospective families personally. You and your family are welcome to come and visit the school at a time which is convenient for you. At this meeting you will have an opportunity to meet the Admissions team, the Principal as well as other key staff at our school.

In addition to any questions you may have, we will talk to you about what we feel makes our school special, offer advice about the best class placement for your child/ren as well as factors to take into consideration with regard to the transition. You’ll also get chance to have a look around our purpose-built facilities and talk to some of the students.

Step 3: Reserve a place

Once you have chosen EISP, you are a few short steps away from formalizing a place with us. We try to keep the process as simple as possible and in the first instance ask only for the completion of our application form and submission of our standard registration fee (8200 czk). Shortly before your child starts with us, we also require families submit the following documentation:

Application form

• Transfer form (Year 1 and above)

Early Years Questionnaire (Prenursery to Reception)

• 2x passport sized photos

• copy of either birth certificate or passport ( we don’t require both)

Step 4: Assessment and trial days

We ideally like to meet all pupils before starting at EISP. As part of this process, students are invited to spend one day at the school to experience school life and meet future peers and teaching staff. The trial day equally provides teachers with a great opportunity to informally assess a child’s level to assist in class placements.

For students entering the IGCSE and IB programmes written assessments prior to entry are required. These can take place either at the school by appointment or alternatively remotely. For students entering all other year groups, we prefer to conduct assessments in person before a child starts school ideally however should this not be possible, we ask for as much detailed information from their previous school plus contact details so we are as best prepared for their transition.

Step 5: Preparing to start school

Once your place has been confirmed and all documents have been submitted, you may still have a whole host of additional questions to ask. Please feel free to get in touch whenever a question crops up. Otherwise we hope that the following handbooks will be of assistance:

• Parent handbook

• Induction information

Step 6: Start school

Starting a new school can be a daunting experience for pupils as well as parents. Once at the school, the whole community is involved in welcoming new families in a variety of ways some of which are mentioned here:

We operate a buddy system whereby existing students take on the responsibility for showing new ‘recruits’ the ropes and helping them integrate into the community with ease.

Class representatives also play a key role ensuring to welcome each new family personally while our Parent School Partnership organise regular events to provide parents and guardians with an opportunity to socialize in aid of worthwhile causes.

Finally we hope that your transition to Prague and EISP will be a smooth one.

If you do run into a problem, however, please don’t suffer in silence as there are plenty of people to turn to on hand to help.
