Recruiting and supporting the next generation of Science, Maths and ICT teachersIn August 2008 we were appointed by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) to deliver and manage the high-profile Transition to Teaching Programme. We work with employers to encourage employees that may be leaving their current employment to consider a career in teaching. We specifically target graduates with experience in ICT, Mathematics and Science, to address the skill shortage in the STEM subjects. Both employers and programme participants receive constant support throughout the lifecycle of the programme. We work with employees to help them make their application to study for a teaching qualification, support them throughout their studies and help them with applications for teaching posts. This is combined with a wealth of online resources and e-learning tools all of which have been developed by Nord Anglia Education. In addition to support through their own personal mentors there are a number of events for group work, networking and knowledge sharing. The programme has exceeded all of its first year targets. We are supporting over 200 individuals and at least 50 will be starting their initial teacher training this year. Over 250 employers are now signed up to the programme, including IBM, KPMG, BT, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline. Your Contact |
