Our students study the National Curriculum for England followed by the International Baccalaureate.
The National Curriculum of England seeks to:
-
set out the most important knowledge and skills that every child has a right to learn
-
be a flexible framework enabling children to be taught in a way that is balanced and manageable but stretching enough to challenge them and meet their diverse needs
-
give standards that measure how well children are doing to support teachers in further raising student achievement.
We adapt the curriculum to make sure it is suitable for our diverse group of students. As they go through the school, we keep a careful eye on how they're doing with progressive and continuous assessment and review.
After following the National Curriculum, students move on to the International Baccalaureate. It aims to:
-
develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect
-
encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
We think it is important to educate the ‘whole child’. Personal, Social Health Education is part of this. We teach it at all Key Stages, equipping students with the knowledge, skills and understanding to take responsibility for themselves, show respect for others and develop self-awareness and confidence.
Our attentive class teachers and Learning Support department look out for students who need support or to be stretched a little more. We also help students with university applications and careers advice.
