Interim Results for the six months to 28 February 2006

Nord Anglia Education is a leading provider of education, training and childcare with three distinct operating divisions – International Schools, Nurseries and Learning Services

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Significant progress in International Schools and Learning Services Divisions
  • Initiatives under way to improve occupancy levels in Nurseries Division
  • Operating profit from continuing operations (excluding exceptional items) up 7% at £2.5m (2005: £2.4m).
  • Profit before taxation (excluding exceptional items) rose by 31% to £0.9m (2005: £0.7m).
  • Earnings per share, adjusted for exceptional items, increased by 7.6% to 1.69p (2005: 1.57p).
  • Group well placed to benefit from strong growth in demand, particularly in Asia, for British education
  • Banking facilities revised

Alan Kelsey, Chairman of Nord Anglia, comments:

"Overall we expect Group performance for the current year to be broadly in line with market expectations, with strong performances from the International Schools and Learning Services Divisions and an anticipated improvement in the second half-year from the Nursery Division. Further ahead, we anticipate substantial progress from the Group, which will be achieved without dependence on major improvements in the nurseries."
