NORD ANGLIA AWARDED EAST LEEDS CITY ACADEMY CONTRACT38012NORD ANGLIA AWARDED EAST LEEDS CITY ACADEMY CONTRACTThe training and education company Nord Anglia Education PLC ("Nord Anglia"), in partnership with claruspcm, has won the contract to manage the implementation and establishment phase of the David Young Community Academy on behalf of Leeds Academy Trust. Part of the DfES´ City Academies programme, the contract, worth up to £650k, has been awarded by the Trust´s members, the Academy´s sponsors - the Intercity Group of Companies and the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds. The new Academy at Seacroft, Leeds - the first in the country to specialise in the area of ‘Design and the Built Environment´ - is due to open in September 2006. Nord Anglia will have overall responsibility for the contract and will work with the Trust, the Governors and in due course the head teacher designate, to oversee the implementation of the processes leading to the opening of the Academy on time and in condition to fulfil its statutory responsibilities as a school. This will include: developing an educational plan to raise standards; designing and implementing the procedures required to run an effective school; implementing school improvement measures and initial staffing proposals; and drawing up initial budget proposals for the day-to-day running of the City Academy, once open. claruspcm Limited, which specialises in the management of design and construction solutions, will oversee the successful and timely completion of the Academy.
