We were delighted to welcome Caitriona Murdoch from Oxford University to the school recently. Cat is the Head of Student Recruitment at Oxford. She met with IB1 students individually who are in a position to seriously contemplate applying to Oxford next year and with the IB tutor team who provide the students with guidance and advice through the university application process generally and also compile their references.

Cat talked to an audience of our IB1 students, staff, parents and guests from four other Bratislava schools who we were delighted to welcome to the school. It was good to see students from Year 11 there and parents of students still a year or two away from application. It is good to think and plan ahead.

The talk was about applying to Oxford but she had plenty of advice for students thinking about applying to the UK generally. This was part of a series of talks available to students from higher education institutions in many countries but the first time we had held an Oxford event. Students said that the experience did inspire them to aim high with their university ambitions and she may well have persuaded one or two or more to consider Oxford seriously.
