Dear Parents,

The British School of Beijing is proud to be both the longest established and the largest British school in Beijing. We are the only school in China to be inspected and approved by the UK Governments schools inspectorate who verify that our standards of academic achievement are amongst the best in the world.

Our reputation and our popularity with parents from around the world are based on a solid academic tradition paired with a respect for somewhat traditional family values.

We ensure that our students are cared for, challenged, guided and supported throughout their journey through school.

We take this duty of care and challenge very seriously, and in my own case, personally.

I have been with The British School of Beijing for almost five years now. I have been Principal but, just as importantly, I am a father of five children in the school ranging from early years to secondary school.

Our academic standards match the very best worldwide, and our community encompasses a genuine cross-section of European, American and many other nationalities. We are very proud of our genuinely diverse student body.

Our education is thoroughly modern, and our results prove this beyond any doubt year after year.

Our values are what we describe as ‘gently old-fashioned’. We believe that this is a strength of the school. The emphasis we place on good manners, respect and social graces are what make our school exceptional.

Our sporting tradition are strong and form a vital “heart” to our school. Our most recent triumph was our boys and girls teams winning the ACAMIS soccer Gold division. An unprecedented triumph at the highest levels of this competition.

Our choir and orchestras have travelled far and wide and performed at all of Beijing’s major social events and have done us proud. Our school is the regional centre for the Royal Schools of Music, a tradition we are very proud to continue.

This year we will again welcome the Royal College of Art to our school for their only China engagement as well as speakers from Oxford, Cambridge and Yale.

As Principal I am proud of the school that we have built. As a father I am secure that I have chosen the right school for my children.
