Our House System

Our house system helps to develop children’s social awareness and a sense of pride in working as part of a team.

House System

On joining BSB your child will be assigned to a ‘house’ – of which there are four:

Romans (blue)

Normans (red)

Vikings (yellow)

Saxons (green)

House Points are awarded to pupils for academic achievement and progress. They are immediate rewards and are recorded individually by pupils on charts in each classroom. These, in turn, are collected on a weekly basis by eight Year 6 pupils who have been selected by the student body to be representative House Captains. The weekly Primary School House point totals are then announced in the weekly assemblies and the House displays are updated accordingly.

In Secondary School Merits are awarded for good work, community involvement, good manners and working hard. The children are awarded with certificates in assemblies, with merit prizes to those students with the most at the end of the year.

Primary students take part in a house sports event
Students can take part in a range of inter-house activities, giving them the chance to shine in a particular event and to enjoy the experience of working as part of a group with a common aim.
