Secondary School

The Secondary School aims to provide the best possible education for students in years 7 - 11, with subsequent years to follow. These emerging adolescents are at a crucial stage in their lives, facing many changes and decisions.

We offer a specialist secondary curriculum that caters for students' learning needs while supporting them with a carefully planned and responsive pastoral care programme.

We offer a broad range of learning experiences for the students that cover all areas of the National Curriculum for England and prepares students extremely well for academic, sporting and social challenges.

We will open our first cohort of Year 12 in September 2013, with subsequent years to follow.  We have received our IB accreditation and will begin to deliver the programme in September 2013.

At the British International School, we aim to provide the best possible education for all students and we recognise and celebrate diversity. We encourage excellence in attitude and application and continually strive to improve. There is a broad and balanced curriculum on offer and we will support your child to achieve success in every area. A clear focus on teaching and learning ensures that teachers in the Secondary School are always focussing on student progress and minimising any obstacles to learning.

The Secondary school students are recognisable for their increased awareness of who they are and where they fit into our ever-changing world. At this age, more than ever, they are making connections with people, organisations and sets of skills and knowledge.

Students in the Secondary School are developed markedly in terms of their integrity, creativity, discernment, and academic skills. They will become aware of the need to support others and will be explicitly taught leadership skills with plentiful opportunities to apply these skills.
We aim for all students who leave the Secondary School to be:

  • Well prepared for progressing their studies by being literate and numerate
  • Highly ethical
  • Well informed
  • Caring towards others
  • Respectful of cultural diversity
  • Confident and spontaneous
  • Prepared to make a contribution to their community
  • Capable of taking the lead
  • Creative and innovative
  • Positive about their own image

We also insist that our students have a clear understanding and appreciation for the local United Arab Emirates culture, language and people.

Secondary students are taught by subject specialists and benefit from outstanding learning facilities.
